If you use iTunes then podcasts are pretty easy. You can use the iTunes podcast manager. Or you can use Mediafly's SyncClient.
But, what if you use a SanDisk, iRiver, Cowon, Creative Zen, Mobile Phone, etc.? Well.... Mediafly has the solution (of course I am biased as I work at Mediafly).
You can now manage all of your podcasts on Mediafly.com and then automatically sync your podcasts to any USB player -- or at least any player which supports Microsoft MTP (which most do). The SyncClient copies files directly to your player without any action by you, bypassing any clunky software in the middle, such as Windows Media Player, Yahoo!, etc. This new version is still in Beta (testing) but it is now available on the Medaifly SyncClient download page (You must select the Beta link)
How to download the Mediafly SyncClient Beta
- Goto www.mediafly.com/syncclient (You must select the Beta link)
- Create a free Mediafly account (if you do not already have one).
- Select the beta download link which is located below the production SyncClient download button.
- Follow the installation instructions and launch the Beta SyncClient
- Attach your USB Player and it will automatically be detected and synced.
How does it work?
It is pretty simple... The SyncClient runs in the background downloading your podcasts during the day while you work. And, as soon as you plug your device in, the SyncClient adds all of your new podcasts and organizes them into playlists for easy access. And, almost as valuable, the SyncClient removes any expired files.
Tell me how it goes
We want to hear from you. If you have any thoughts, ideas, or trouble running the new SyncClient, just email us at www.mediafly.com/contactus
It doesn't sync properly. It sees the device, but never syncs.

Creative has a software called ZENcast, that allows you to download podcasts (they call zencast) to their ZEN players. See zencast.com for more information.

If you have a Sansa, you may need to set the USB mode to MTP. You can do this in Settings > USB Mode > set to MTP. Also, there are known problems with the Rhapsody versions of Sansa devices.

ZenCast is great if you only every want to sync with your Zen. The trouble is if you buy a Sansa next year all your settings are stuck at ZenCast.
Mediafly allows you to manage your shows in one place and sync with any device... and that includes emerging devices which have integrated Mediafly directly onto the device, such as Chumby (chumby.com).
We have many other companies launching with Medialfy in 2008.

Never syncs newfiles that were added to playlists. Spent close to an hour adding Dave Ramsey episodes to my "unclassified" playlists. When it went to sync, I saw each and every one of the Dave Ramsey episodes in the status box during syncing. However, when I went into the "unclassified" folder, the only episodes there were the ones from before. And, just in case, I checked every folder, not there. There are some serious flaws with this program.
I even went to youtube for support, not even one mediafly video, lets me know how popular this site must be, and obviously why...

I really appreciate mediafly, I was using Juice, but when I purchased the Fuze mediafly was the perfect answer for easily getting podcasts and then automatically downloading them to my Fuze. I would really appreciate if you would add support for the microsdhc cards in the expansion slots, or maybe a way to sync to the microsdhc card in the reader connected to the PC directly. Then I could install in the Fuze slot. Thanks a TON.
